Positive Reviews
positive:
A country cottage setting.
This peaceful setting is perfect for the self catering cottage dwellers. Local convenience stores such as Westerford, 777, Hague and OK, are well worth bearing in mind! Hotel occupants too will love this great location and spacious grounds. *They even provide guided tours of their own gardens. That's how extensive the grounds are. It isn't ‘remote' though. You can easily walk to the local shopping centre; no problem!
positive:
Many staff members are helpful and friendly.
It's all part of the relaxing atmosphere here and hotel employees are very friendly, approachable - and dedicated to making sure that you enjoy your stay to the full.
positive:
The best of both worlds.
It's a very peaceful, even exotic, location and if you've got kids, they'll love roaming around these very extensive grounds. The immediate area is residential but, within 15 minutes, you can be in the centre of Cape Town itself.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Grapes of wrath at the Vineyard
The essential air conditioning is dodgy and quite likely to break down completely. Rooms are dated with dirty carpets. It certainly doesn't comply with what you are led to expect. The air-con doesn't work, reception staff members are lethargic and there's no porter assistance with luggage. All in all; a bit of a let-down.
negative:
Life in slow motion.
The service in the bar and restaurants is unbelievably slow. By the time your meal arrives, you've probably forgotten what you ordered! This unacceptable situation seems to revolve around a general lack of waiting staff and a lack of training for those who are on the front line.
negative:
An unacceptable hierarchy.
As paying and visiting guests, your interests are relegated in preference to ‘locals' visiting the bar and other facilities. Pathetic really.
