About Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa
Situated in a gorgeous spot right on the beach, and looking out over majestic Table Mountain, Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa is a large resort-like complex offering a wide array of accommodation.
Accommodation on offer range from standard hotel suites to a multi-bedroom penthouse suite. The larger suites have small kitchenettes with microwaves, while all rooms feature air conditioning and minibars.
Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa has a sophisticated pool terrace, where you can work on your tan in one of the sun beds while keeping an eye on the ever present mountain at the same time. There are also numerous conference and meeting venues, for those in the Cape for business reasons.
There are three in-house restaurants, with Wang Thai, with its exquisite Thai food perhaps being the most popular.
Those looking for a little high end shopping and a host of entertainment can head down to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront area, approximately 5.6 miles away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent position and outlook
Guests really liked the position of the hotel. While being directly on the beach certainly didn't hurt, what most seemed to impress about the position was that it offered unobstructed views of Table Mountain across the bay. Guests clearly liked the drama of the setting. They also pointed out that it wasn't too far from central Cape Town and that the hotel offered a shuttle bus and other means to get there.
positive:
Very friendly and helpful staff
It was rare to find a review that did not compliment the staff. They were described as friendly and incredibly customer-focussed, being willing to go above and beyond to help when this was called for.
positive:
Excellent breakfast
The overwhelming majority of guests were very happy with the breakfast offered at the hotel, saying that the serving staff were generally very accommodation and informative and that the food was both varied and delicious.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A little cold in winter
A number of guests reported that they felt a little cold in winter. Of course Cape Town can get pretty chilly at that time of year, and some felt that both the public areas and their rooms were not adequately heated.
negative:
No Wi-Fi in the rooms
While it was unclear form the reviews whether all the rooms and apartments were without Wi-Fi, several guests mentioned that the specific room they were in had no Wi-Fi, meaning they had to go to one of the common areas to connect.
negative:
Some cleanliness issues
There were a bit too many guests reporting cleanliness issues in their rooms for comfort. The problems ranged from mould in the bathrooms to unemptied rubbish bins, but whatever the specific problem, it did not leave a good impression.
