Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent food from the restaurant
Almost all the guests commenting on the food seemed to have liked it. It was not that guests considered it sophisticated and refined, but that was not what they were after in any event. They seemed to find it more of the tasty and hearty variety.
positive:
Rooms are very spacious
Again and again guests mentioned how spacious their rooms were. They were clearly (pleasantly) surprised, and found the room more than big enough for the number of people booked in.
positive:
Staff went above and beyond
It was hard to find any negative comments about the staff. They were described as exceptionally friendly and welcoming, but more than that, several guests reported that individual staff members went far beyond the call of duty to make sure their stay was a good one.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Looking a little “tired”
This was perhaps the most common, and most serious, complaint. Guests say that much of the furniture, fixtures and fittings are simply worn out. While they concede that they are kept very clean, and in reasonable repair, they felt strongly that the entire hotel needed a refurbishment.
negative:
Beds a bit uncomfortable
While bed firmness is notorious for being a very individual preference, there were perhaps too many complaints here to just put down to personal preference. The main complaint seemed to be that the mattresses were too soft to be really comfortable.
negative:
TV's too small for the rooms
Surprisingly, this was a fairly common complaint. Guests said that the TV in their room was too small, making viewing it from the bed a bit of a strain on the eyes.
