Positive Reviews
positive:
Great for functions
Be it a birthday party, wedding or just a family get together, when it comes to functions, this place does not disappoint. Both the organisation and execution of large-scale events is outstanding, but certainly smaller parties are lavished with an equal amount of attention. Guests were very impressed by the staff here, who seem to take things in their stride, handling and smoothing over any issues before they become problems.
positive:
Excellent food
The hotel's in-house restaurant serves local, seasonal fare and its offerings do not disappoint. Guests raved about both the quality and the quantity of food here. Again, the service in the restaurant was absolutely top-notch.
positive:
Outstanding staff
Whether they are planning an event or pulling a pint, the staff here are absolutely outstanding. Guests report that they are endlessly helpful, seeking practical solutions to problems as and when they arise. Past visitors have sung the praises of the wedding manager here, with a number of guests mentioning him by name in their reviews.
Negative Reviews
negative:
In-room temperature control
The vast majority of guests had nothing but great things to say about this country hotel, but there do seem to be a few problems here with the in-room temperature controls. Some guests report a total lack of heating while others said that they were entirely unable to turn down or adjust their radiators.
negative:
Shower problems
Recent past guests have also experienced some problems with their showers, with some saying that they were flowing at barely more than a trickle during their stay.
negative:
Snug fit
Finally, a number of guests commented that the overall feel of this period property is rather snug, with some noting that space, both in-room and within public areas, is at a premium.
