Positive Reviews
positive:
Unbeatable central location
While the hustle and bustle that is central Marrakech is definitely not everybody's cup of tea, guests who were booked into Islane were self-selected and seemed more than ready to enjoy the area for what it was. There was essentially no place in the centre they wanted to visit that seemed too far away. And if the area got a bit much for them they could simply retreat to their hotel oasis to repair and regroup.
positive:
Restaurant serves alcohol at night
Several guests mentioned that they were pleasantly surprised that the hotel served alcohol in the restaurant at night. Of course many hotels in Morocco do not sell it at all, so guests were glad they could have a beer or other drink right in their hotel.
positive:
Very friendly staff
Again and again guests complimented the staff for being both welcoming and displaying genuine friendliness.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Indication of possible plumbing problems
Going by the number of guests who mentioned that there was a strong sewage smell emanating form their bathroom it seems that there may be a building wide plumbing issue. Guests tried to use deodoriser to mask the smell, but that only helped so much.
negative:
Breakfast not a hit
It was hard to find a good word written about the breakfast. Guests described it as meagre and poorly presented, as if the staff were merely going through the motions so as to say that breakfast had been provided.
negative:
Problems with the air conditioning
Quite a few guests mentioned that the air conditioning unit in their room did not work properly during their stay. Staff did try to fix them, but this was not always possible. It seems thee may be a problem with old or poorly maintained units in some rooms.
