About FLEXSTAY INN Tokiwadai
This laid-back budget hotel is set in the quaint, relaxing district of Tokiwadai, right on the Kannana Dori ring-road. Along with its enviable location, the FLEXSTAY INN Tokiwadai boasts property-wide Wi-Fi access.
Minimalist accommodations with plain decor and functional furnishings provide tea/coffee-making facilities and flat-screen TVs. Work desks, mini-fridges and microwaves are also standard features in most rooms, as are kitchenettes. Suites with living and/or dining areas are available too.
Guests can take advantage of a coin-operated laundry facility located on-site. A lift serves all floors.
Whilst this hotel does not provide any dining options of its own, it is surrounded by lots of low-key, local eateries, including an excellent yakitori restaurant next to the crossing gates at Tokiwadai train station (three minutes’ walk).
The lively Ikebukuro area is a ten-minute train ride from the FLEXSTAY INN Tokiwadai. Shinjuku and Shibuya can both be reached in around 25 minutes by train.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Location is pleasant and convenient
A great many guests liked the fact this hotel is set in a quaint, local neighbourhood with lots of really nice cafes, restaurants and shops very close by. Having the Tobu-Toju line (with trains to Ikebukuro) less than five minutes' walk away was also seen as a big plus.
positive:
Genial staff members make plenty of effort
In addition to being very accommodating, the small yet immensely industrious team at this hotel is also very genial and friendly. Small wonder then that so many visitors were keen to sing their praises.
positive:
Guest rooms are relatively large
Many visitors have noted that most of the accommodations offered here - especially those with separate dining areas - are actually a pretty good size by Japanese standards.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Reception is only open during the daytime
The reception desk at this hotel is only open from 8am-6pm, so once 6.01pm comes around, there are no receptionists left on-site. Unsurprisingly, numerous guests were irritated that they couldn't do things like rent an iron or ask for advice after 6pm.
negative:
Bathrooms are very small
Numerous visitors drew attention to the almost comically small size of the bathrooms within the guest rooms. Something to keep in mind if you're a tall individual who likes to actually stand up in the shower!
negative:
Noisy ring-road can be a problem
Very few guests who were allocated lower floor rooms at the front of the property appreciated the almost the constant traffic noise (and occasional siren) of the busy ring-road which runs parallel to the hotel. Light sleepers would do well to ask for an upper floor-room at the rear of the building (or pack some ear plugs).
