Situated in a quiet area within the heart of Düsseldorf, Günnewig Esplanade offers classic, efficient and no-nonsense business style accommodation close to the city’s amenities and attractions. The rooms have a business, no-nonsense feel about them, and feature en-suite bathrooms, hair dryers, satellite TV’s with Sky channels, in-rooms safes, minibars, telephones and clock radios. Reception can help with local information, luggage storage and laundry, while there is an underground parking lot available on-site for a fee. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and a communal computer available as well. A basic continental breakfast is served in the bright breakfast room every morning, and the hotel bar opens in the evenings and is a great place to socialise over a drink. The trendy shopping area of Fürstenplatz is just 200 yards away, and the famed Königsallee just 0.6 miles. The banks of the Rhine are just over a mile away.
The relatively central position was perhaps what guests liked most about Günnwig Esplanade. While not right in the centre of Dusseldorf, it is only a 20 minute walk away, and guests seemed to like the slightly quieter location that was still within walking distance. The relative proximity to the Königsallee really seemed to excite the shoppers.
Again and again guests mentioned the genuine friendliness shown towards them by the staff during their stay. From the welcome at check-in to the service at breakfast, guests couldn't speak more highly of the staff.
While it was just a standard continental buffet, guests nonetheless found that there were a large variety of foods available, allowing them to really stock up for the busy day ahead.
While guests didn't find the rooms to be in ill repair, quite a few had a strong reaction against the décor, calling it “tired”, and long passed the date t should have been updated.
A large number of guests arrived by car, and they did not seem impressed with the parking arrangements. There does not seem to be any on-site parking available at the hotel and several guests were unsatisfied with the security arrangements at the recommended parking nearby.
While not a universal complaint, a fair number of guests reported that they could quite easily hear people talking and such in adjacent rooms. It seems that despite being in a fairly modern building the rooms may not have been adequately soundproofed.
