Positive Reviews
positive:
Sublime views of the loch
The one thing that stands out above all else at this hotel is the views over the loch. Any facilities a hotel can offer fade into insignificance when your room has such a priceless view. Guests love the wooden-decked balconies where they can sit and admire the lake, with perhaps a drink in hand.
positive:
Great, spacious rooms
Guests recommend the hotel mainly for the views, but the standard of the rooms certainly doesn't seem to detract from the whole experience. They are cosy and warm, bright and very spacious.
positive:
Excellent food and staff
Guests quite simply like the food and the attentive service they receive in the restaurant. Many comment that it is excellent.
Negative Reviews
negative:
First impressions can be deceiving
Although most guests appreciate their stay overall, it is only after overcoming initial doubts. It is a shame that first impressions are tainted by the shabby and worn look of the hotel from the roadside. Looking more like a run-down motel or truckers cafe, than a pleasant Inn, it makes you want to keep on driving. A bit of TLC and a lick of paint would give it a bit more of the kerb appeal guests seek.
negative:
Rooms can be a wee bit noisy
Being so close to the A75 it could be expected that there is some traffic noise. Whilst this seems to be limited to certain rooms, some guests feel that the insulation in the walls and ceilings could be improved. The sound of jetskis too shatters the calm ambiance.
negative:
Funny service times
A lot of guests are dumbfounded to find out that the restaurant finishes serving at just 7:30 pm! This is considered a bit odd and not very flexible. Some people find that breakfast serving times are conversely too late!
