Motel The Inn at Rye Place (Portsmouth, USA)

Rooms are comfortable, and have the kind of ambience that guests are looking for, if the goal is to get away to somewhere peaceful and charming. They elicit a reluctance to leave, and a desire to return.

Despite its location off of the highway, the Rosewood Inn at Rye is a quiet place to stay. There's sufficient insulation between the walls and floorboards, so inner noise is also at a minimum. You don't need ear plugs, unless listening to media at a loud volume.

This hotel acts as a perfect base for exploring Portsmouth. You're near the water and several beaches, cultural and sports venues, and plenty of restaurants and shopping. The proximity to outdoor activities is also a nice benefit if you're traveling with your dog.

Although the beds have fluffy pillows and crisp linens, they don't meet expectations for a restful sleep. The mattresses are very firm, so much so that many guests find it difficult adjusting to, for a comfortable rest. If you're used to a softer mattress, you may have to use some of the pillows to create more of a cushion.

Housekeeping doesn't always eliminate odors that may come from pet guests. There are also traces of mustiness, and tobacco from guests who have ignored the non-smoking rules. When they do tackle the smells, the staff sometimes heavily uses fresheners, which is just as off-putting.

The bathroom doesn't provide room for personal items or necessities. Guests would appreciate shelving or some other kind of space to lay out toiletries.
