Positive Reviews
positive:
The accommodation is clean and well maintained.
Yes, rooms are a bit on the basic side and perhaps somewhat small, but everything you really need is here and they are clean and well maintained. The food is good too! The breakfast buffet is super and has something for most tastes.
positive:
A tip-top location.
It's in the heart of the downtown area and trains and buses couldn't be more accessible. It's close to the station; the bus stops outside and in the event of a problem, staff members here are friendly and keen to assist. Orchard is round the corner, Bencolen Street is a five minute walk and it's an easy stroll to the harbour in about 45 minutes.
positive:
Friendly staff.
The place is child and family friendly and staff members go out of their way to make sure that you enjoy your stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Don't veg out.
There's a limited food choice, particularly at breakfast and the needs of vegetarians are hardly considered at all.
negative:
Hotel prices, but no services to match.
Rooms seem very tired and dated. Even the bed linen gives cause for concern. They do little to cater for the European appetite and breakfast just features unnamed dishes that are presumably of Chinese origin. Tariffs are similar to those of a hotel, services remain in the hostel category.
negative:
Everything is so small
Rooms are small and the air-con doesn't work. Even the car park is small, with spaces difficult to find. The noise from the surrounding area, though, is ‘immense' … and goes on day and night.
