Positive Reviews
positive:
Super staff.
Guests spoke highly of staff at Cathedral. It was obvious that staff really cared about the comfort of guests at this family-run hotel. A speedy check-in with relevant city information made a great first impression, and guests said that all staff interactions were a pleasure.
positive:
Big rooms.
If you are looking for a large hotel room, with plenty of space to unwind in, this might be the hotel for you. Guests often commented on spacious accommodation that was larger than a standard hotel room. While they would have liked to see a few more in-room amenities, like a safe and tea and coffee making facilities, they were often able to overlook this due to the generous square footage with a comfortable bed to top it off.
positive:
Convenient location.
Guests were easily able to navigate the city with Cathedral as a base. A bus stop was in front of the hotel, and a shopping mall was within walking distance.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A steep climb.
Cathedral doesn't have an elevator, and guests warned of a strenuous climb to get to your room. Some guests counted over 40 stairs to reach rooms located on higher floors, and were sometimes left huffing and puffing, especially with heavy luggage.
negative:
Could be quieter.
Guests often heard late night pedestrian traffic at this hotel. It seems the city is often in a celebratory mood, and guests got the brunt of it with noisy revellers disturbing their slumber.
negative:
Heating and cooling issues.
Guests said that air-conditioning was noticeably absent. A few also experienced cool temperatures that were far too uncomfortable for a pleasant stay. Some advised future guests to ask for a room away from the street so that windows can be opened. And bringing something warmer to wear might not be a bad idea, either.
