Positive Reviews
positive:
Old ... but not senile!
The hotel has the character that can only come with age but, unlike us humans of a certain age ... everything's old, but it still works! Rooms are clean + very comfortable. The hotel doesn't do frills; it's fairly basic - but who wants unnecessary frills anyway! Having said that, the prospect of a room with a real ocean view is a frill ... and quite a thrill, too!
positive:
Great staff.
Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. They feature significantly in the success of many visits here.
positive:
Beachside location.
The beach is just across the street, so it couldn't be nearer really.

Getting tight in the car park
Whoever decided on the dimensions of the parking bays must be in a home for the mentally bewildered by now; space is 'so' tight. You're stuck with it though as there's no alternative parking on the neighboring streets.

Breakfast is a joke
Start the day with a laugh! Breakfast is a complete non-starter to any day and an insult. It's miserly, pre-packed and with cartooned up milk and fruit juice.
negative:
Not quite a 'last resort' - but nearly
There's a list of issues, ranging from poor security provision, broken locks etc; to dire and overdue maintenance work.... and missing sinks! Other problems can relate to outside noise. Obviously, if faced with a choice of sea or street view rooms, you'd go for sea. So you should. The street is very noisy with traffic.
