Positive Reviews
positive:
Good place if all you need is a bed
This isn't that bad of a place if all you basically need is a bed, roof over your head, four walls, and a bathroom. It's fairly priced, simple, and easy to find. Business travellers and late nighters who need to stop somewhere overnight like this as a go-to resource.
positive:
Nicely located to local attractions
The Cranley is a convenient base for getting to leisure activities, historic sites, parks and gardens, and other spots that the region has become known for. Being able to quickly get back and forth has made this popular for backpackers and guests more interested in the outdoors than a retreat.
positive:
Decent breakfast to start the day with
The breakfast is pretty tasty, amply portioned, and overall decent for the included rate. It's convenient and filling to start the day with, and one less thing to be concerned about before heading out the door.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Outdated furnishings and not very fresh
Although the hotel never presents itself as a high grade lodge, it still falls short of somewhat greater expectations. Decor and furnishings need makeovers or replacements, paint, flooring, and carpeting could benefit from refreshment, and the general atmosphere would be more invigorating if brighter and better kept.
negative:
Inside and outside noise keeps you awake
You'll be fine staying here if you intend to not be around much, plan on joining in the late night festivities, or aren't bothered by noise at all. Otherwise, the pub noise will distract you, and the thin windows won't do much to insulate traffic and outer sounds.
negative:
Inconsistent water temps and pressure
Showers don't always hold steady temperatures or maintain a strong enough pressure. Thus, you may not have one to your liking or may even have to skip it.
