Positive Reviews
positive:
Idyllic location with great transport links.
With views across Carbis Bay, The Cottage occupies an idyllic spot in Cornwall. It's also just a 2-minute stroll to the local station, and guests love the charming, 5-minute train journey into St. Ives for a bit of art and shopping.
positive:
Good food and generous portions.
There's certainly good produce on the Cornish coast, and it seems that the chefs at The Cottage make the most of it - guests rave about the quality and value. There's no skimping on portions, and they'll even do you a packed lunch.
positive:
Efficient, friendly staff create an enjoyable stay.
Guests comment on the friendly and efficient attitude of the staff, who go out of their way to help, and are founts of local knowledge. From the reception desk to the housekeeping, this place is run with the guest in mind.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Better signposting would be helpful.
The hotel can be a bit tricky to find by car, as it's tucked away behind the railway car park, and there are no obvious signs. Once you get there, at least there's free parking, but it can make arrival more stressful than it need be.
negative:
Old-fashioned furnishings and decor.
The decor throughout the hotel could do with a bit of an update - apparently the hotel has been catering to coach parties for a long time, and it shows. A facelift would brighten the place up, but it's comfortable enough.
negative:
No Wi-Fi in the rooms.
There's only Wi-Fi provision in public areas, and there's no chance of connecting in your room. If you're escaping the rat race for a few days, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but for many guests, it's a bit of a nuisance.
