As its name might suggest, Hotel Poseidon is situated very near the seafront. Since it also has a decent height, many guests mentioned that they had terrific views from their rooms - across the bay of Naples all the way to Sorrento. The restaurant was said to be on the top floor and had especially lovely views.
While some miles away, a couple of guests felt that the hotel was a good option when visiting the Pompei ruins. The area was a little less busy than Pompei and surroundings, but was still close enough that guests could get a jump start on tour groups coming in from Naples and further afield.
While they did have some issues finding the hotel, once there motorists were happy to find free and secure on-site parking was available to them. It gave them some peace of mind.
While most seemed to find the hotel more or less OK, the same was not said about the immediate neighbourhood. Guests felt it looked a bit rough, and while no actual incidents were reported, felt unsafe walking in the area.
An extraordinary number of motorists mentioned that the hotel was very difficult to find once they got off the motorway. Unfortunately they did not really elaborate, or say whether they were using their SatNav and it gave misleading directions.
As in many hotels, some guests reported booking a room with a double bed, only to arrive and be assigned to a room with two singles pushed together. They were very disappointed.
