Hotel Palazzo Guardati (Sorrento, Italy)

The hotel is tucked away in Tasso Square in the centre of Sorrento. It’s not too noisy and it’s within walking distance to both restaurants and shops, and transportation. Guests say buses, trains and the port are minutes away making it a good base for exploring Pompeii, Capri and the Amalfi Coast. In Sorrento there’s plenty to see and do with several attractions and many shops and cafes.

Over and over again, guests rave about the rooftop terrace at this hotel. During the day in the warmer months there’s a small pool and snack bar where you can enjoy the sun and have a dip. In the evening, the terrace becomes a bar that overlooks the water and the beautiful gardens of the Hotel Victoria.

The rooms are decorated in formal Italian style with lots of hand-painted antiques. The bathrooms are very modern and marble and feature big deep baths and fountain head showers.

While guests love the central location of this hotel they also say there’s a downside. Because it’s so close to the train station, it may be difficult to find a taxi willing to take the short fare. It’s just a short walk from the station to the hotel, but you will have to negotiate through a few narrow cobblestone streets to get there.

Because this hotel is located right in the main square some noise would be expected. Most guests say you can hear some noise from nearby restaurants and bars but not enough to disturb sleep.

The hotel is located down a narrow pedestrian walk and can be difficult to find. There also is no parking at the property so guests checking in may find they need to temporarily find a parking spot in the square and then transfer their car to a parking garage.
