Positive Reviews
positive:
The hotel has recently been refurbished.
Mercure Paris La Sorbonne Saint Germain des Près has recently undergone a renovation which is always a great thing. Not only are the public spaces clean and bright, but the guest rooms are in great shape and the bright, contemporary furnishings make for a lovely ambiance.
positive:
The parking is complimentary.
Although the parking for this hotel is located just down the street, there is no charge for this service when you are staying here. This is a great amenity if you are driving into the city, as parking is often difficult to find and usually quite pricey.
positive:
Pets are welcome.
It’s wonderful that pets are allowed at this hotel, especially if you like to travel with your favourite canine companion. Your dog will love it too, because Paris is such a dog-friendly city and there are so many great walks to be had just outside your door.
Negative Reviews
negative:
There’s no restaurant in the hotel.
There is no restaurant at Mercure Paris La Sorbonne Saint Germain des Près, which could be a bit of a drag. However, the Bar does serve a light menu and you also room service at your disposal. However, if those options don’t work for you, you can always dine at Little Cantine-Burgers and Bakery, which serves Spanish fare and Tapas, or any of the dozens of other restaurants and cafes located nearby.
negative:
The rooms are small.
The guest rooms here are a bit small, although the high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows do give the illusion of space. But if you are travelling with more than one person, are travelling with a lot of luggage or need extra room to manoeuvre, you should be aware of this.
negative:
There are smoking rooms here.
Not all of the guest rooms are non-smoking and this could be problematic if you don’t imbibe and can’t abide the acrid, stale smell of second-hand smoke. If this is a problem for you, be sure to state your preference for a non-smoking room upon booking, and then again at check-in.
