Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location for a Lake Placid getaway
The hotel is located near the lake itself and guests love the waterfront and waterview rooms for a nice view of the relaxing lake environment. Though the resort is so near to the lake it is still only a small walk away from the downtown area of Lake Placid and many restaurants and fun activities that are offered in the town. If you like to ski, golf or just want to relax, this resort is right in the middle of everything.
positive:
Staff is phenomenal
Many guests felt very happy with the customer service they received and the friendliness of the staff is outstanding. If people had any request the staff did their best to fulfill them. From front desk to wait staff and housekeeping guests experienced positive attitude and helpfulness all around.
positive:
Good in-house food
Dancing Bear Restaurant serves good food and drinks. Though often hotel owned restaurants leave something to be desired, many guests loved the atmosphere and food here and will return to enjoy a bite or a drink at the restaurant. Guests also like the summer option of having a drink out on the deck when the rooftop bar is open.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Wi-Fi is spotty
Some guests had issues with the Wi-Fi signal going in and out and not being able to establish a connection.
negative:
Three buildings, not one
Some guests did not like that the rooms are spread out over three buildings, depending what kind of room you have you will not lodge in the building that has the front desk or restaurant, and might have to walk a bit if you have to take care of business.
negative:
Pet-friendly
While for some guests this is a good thing, others were not happy with it. If you have allergies you might want to stay away from the property as pets are allowed and will be also around in some of the common areas. The fifth floor rooms are always pet free, so if you need to sleep in a dander free room, ask for a room on the fifth floor.
