About Gustaf af Klint
Gustaf af Klint is one of the boat-based hotels moored close to the centre of Stockholm. It offers basic hostel style accommodation close to the city’s trendy Södermalm district.
Accommodation is in cabins onboard, which are quite basic. Some available rooms have their own bathroom while others have access to a shared toilet.
Multilingual reception staff are on duty limited hours, and can assist with tours and local information. Wi-Fi is free of charge and available the reception and up on the sunterrass.
Gustaf af Klint has an on-board restaurant serving breakfast daily. In the short Swedish summer tables are set out right out on deck, and this is by far the best place to be on board.
The boat is moored in a fairly central location. Slussen Metro Station is nearby, but guests could easily walk to historic Gamla Stan and über-trendy Södermalm, home of many of Stockholm’s best nightspots.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent central location
The location of the boat was by far the thing that guests liked most about the Gustaf af Klint. Stockholm's historic area, Gamla Stan is just a short walk away, and the boat is essentially in Södermalm, on of the cities trendiest nightlife districts. Also, the Slussen Metro Station is just steps away, from which the whole city becomes accessible.
positive:
Very helpful and kind staff
Many guests went out of their way to describe just how helpful staff on board had been. In the true spirit of hostels, they were always ready to give guests the inside scoop on their city.
positive:
Lulled to sleep by the tide
Though not mentioned often, the few who did really seemed to like the sensation of being lulled to sleep by the regular motion of the tide.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A bit too cramped
Of course accommodation is on board a boat, where space is always at a premium. As a result, guests say that the cabins are extremely cramped. While they may have been willing to accept this had they actually been on a boat going somewhere, they were much less charitable since they were staying put.
negative:
A little cold
As if the cramped conditions weren't enough, guests travelling in the cooler months said that the boat was not sufficiently heated. It may simply have been that the damp conditions made it feel a little colder, but that would hardy have changed anything, or made any cold guest feel better.
negative:
Wi-Fi only works near reception
Several guests were very disappointed to discover that the free Wi-Fi was only accessible around the reception area. It is likely that retrofitting the boat with wiring and routers may be too costly, or present a fire hazard, so it is not likely this situation will change soon.
