Positive Reviews
positive:
Staff very much on the ball
While there were a couple of problems, guests generally can't say enough good things about the staff. They are described as exceptionally helpful, often going far out of their way to make sure a guest's needs were met. It seemed to leave quite an impression on many guests.
positive:
Great leisure facilities
Guests really seemed to appreciate the leisure facilities available, especially the pool. It's perhaps that they never expected a relatively small hotel to have such facilities, but whatever the reason, they certainly enjoyed using them.
positive:
The conservatory restaurant
Though it was sometimes closed for weddings, when open guests really enjoyed the outlook from there and the peaceful atmosphere this created.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some noise from wedding parties
The hotel is a very popular venue for weddings, and a few guests staying over the weekends said that, though they don't typically get out of hand, the weddings naturally generate a lot of noise, which sometimes disturbed them when trying to sleep.
negative:
Looking a bit tired
This was a surprisingly common complaint. It wasn't simply that the guests thought that the décor was old fashioned, but that the actual fabrics and furniture had been in there too long without being repaired or spruced up. In some guest's minds the rooms require a fairly major refurbishment.
negative:
Beds might be uncomfortable
It's fairly common to read complaints about bed comfort, simply because each person has his or her unique personal preferences, but there seem to be a bit too many complaints here to simply dismiss. It might be that some if the beds are indeed uncomfortable, rather than just being too hard or soft for personal taste.
