From balconied rooms guests enjoy river boats passing by on the mighty Mississippi! All the French Quarter hot spots, as well as the entertainment hub Bourbon Street, are on the doorstep, as is the super convenient trolley bus service which stop directly outside the inn.

Many guests enjoy a great night's sleep despite the inn's close proximity to the heart of New Orleans' nightlife. The historic courtyard and gardens at the center of the building are also a source of tranquility and a great place to share stories with other travelers.

Visitors are overwhelmingly charmed by the building, with its atmospheric courtyard, balconies, beamed ceilings and exposed walls. Guests are often impressed by the inn's European-style interior, especially the chandeliers, rich fabrics and old photography.

Some of the rooms at the French Market Inn are a little on the snug side, particularly the internal / courtyard-facing ones. However, the smallest rooms are budget rooms, and most travellers acknowledge their good value and comfort. Larger, premium rooms are also available.

Checking in and out at reception has caused some guests headaches. Queues and a lack of staff have led to travellers checking out at quiet times to avoid the morning rush. However, this seems more common during peak season when the inn is at full-capacity.

A lack of tables and seating in the inn's outdoor area is another peak-season problem. A few guests were unable to relax in the ancient courtyard due to their being nowhere to sit down. In contrast, several travellers made mention of having the whole place to themselves!
