    About FLEXSTAY INN Hakodate Station

After exiting from the front of JR Hakodate Station, you will soon see a white building with a distinctive blue line. This is FLEXSTAY INN Hakodate Station, conveniently located around three minutes on foot from Hakodate Station. Hakodate Station is a hub for access to and from Hakodate City, and is also a great base for getting around the city. FLEXSTAY INN Hakodate Station is also an ideal base for sightseeing, with easy access to key tourist areas like Motomachi, Yachigashira Hot Springs, and Goryokaku by using the Hakodate City Tram (streetcar) and then walking. We have a range of rooms to suit the number of guests and their purpose of stay. There are plenty of places around the hotel to eat and drink to your heart’s content, and enjoy the delicacies and special dishes of Hakodate and Hokkaido. Just a roughly three-minute walk from the hotel are two exciting and premier gourmet spots in Hakodate. The Hakodate Asaichi Morning Market is a hub of seasonal scents, sounds, and taste sensations, and sells an array of seafood, agricultural, and other produce. The Daimon Yokocho Hakodate Hikari-no-Yatai is an eclectic collection of restaurants selling a variety of drinks and dishes featuring plenty of ingredients. In the morning, we recommend visiting the Morning Market and feasting on a lip-smacking delicious seafood rice bowl filled with freshly-caught fish and other food from the sea. Then in the evening, why not take a leisurely stroll around the lively, lantern-lit alley of restaurants in Daimon Yokocho, and sample a superb selection of food and drink. When it comes to spectacular scenery in Hakodate, you cannot miss the magnificent night view from Mount Hakodate. Known as one of the world’s top three night views along with Hong Kong and Naples, the breathtaking view from the 334 meter high Mount Hakodate is a popular sightseeing attraction that has a three star-rating in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. The Motomachi area, which sprawls out from the base of Mount Hakodate, is popular with tourists for its Western-influenced streetscape that gives it an exotic atmosphere. Hakodate was one of the first port cities to open in Japan, and it has retained many of the Western cultural influences of that time. Churches, consulates and numerous other historical buildings are scattered throughout the Motomachi area. There are also many old Japanese-style residences from the Taisho to early Showa periods, which have been restored into shops. Motomachi has a unique atmosphere that is a blend of Japanese and Western culture and style. The stone-paved sloping streets stretching straight toward the sea are popular picturesque places for taking photos, and are also well-known as locations for movies and commercials. Hakodate has many other “must-see” attractions, such as the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses lining the streets in the Bay Area, and the special historical site Fort Goryokaku, which was a battle ground in the Boshin War (Japanese civil war between Imperial and shogunate forces, 1868-1869).
