Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location
The East Dart is more or less in the centre of the Dartmoor National Park and guests couldn't love the setting more. It's an obvious choice for anyone who enjoys walking. Plus, the central location means that it's a relatively short drive to many of the national park's attractions.
positive:
Good quality rooms and facilities
Guests tend to be pleased with the standard of the rooms at this hotel. While not overly fancy, the accommodation is found to be clean and comfortable. Guests also appreciate the on-site facilities, especially the drying room and undercover storage.
positive:
Great atmosphere in the pub
Previous guests have often mentioned how inviting they found the pub to be. The owners are around and readily engage with guests, as do the locals. Plus, the barman attracts praise for his welcoming and friendly banter. Not everyone liked being called “love” but this really a minor point that won't bother the majority of people.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No Wi-Fi in rooms
A number of guests were disappointed by the lack of in-room Wi-Fi. This facility is only available in the bar. Although not the fault of the hotel and to be expected in such a rural area, guests also mention that mobile signal is awful.
negative:
Toiletries not automatically supplied
A few guests mentioned that they were surprised to find that no toiletries were provided. Shampoo and soap, along with other items, are only available on request. This information is in the welcome pack but some guests found this an odd approach.
negative:
Some updates required
Reviews indicate that this hotel would benefit from some updates. Several guests found it a bit tatty although did concede that it was at the end of the season. Plus, guests mention that the garden looks a little unloved but has the potential to be lovely.
