The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design is located within a three-minute walk of the hotel, as is Paleet, a major downtown shopping venue.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Lovely atmosphere, great renovated rooms.
Thon Bristol guests reported a lovely atmosphere in this historical building — which has apparently been maintained to retain its old world character — a feeling the piano player in the lounge did nothing to dispel. On that note, the hotel reportedly has warm rooms with real style and comfort, as well as modern bathrooms with high-end toiletries.
positive:
Privileged Oslo position, professional staff.
Guests said they had a privileged location in the centre of Oslo; handy to shopping on Karl Johans gate, attractions like the National Theatre and also close to airport trains. In addition, the staff is said to be excellent; polite, professional, and accommodating as could be, and a few guests mentioned being able to leave their luggage behind while going on side trips.
positive:
Exceptional breakfast buffet selection.
The breakfast buffet selection here was spoken of very highly for its rich selection of fare, including fish like salmon, cooked-to-order eggs and fresh orange juice. This hotel also seems to be the place to stop by for a classy afternoon tea or cocktails, but for that reason guests occasionally found it hard to get a table.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No kettles and a few other small issues.
Those who stayed at Thon Bristol only had a few minor issues to report; firstly there were no tea and coffee-making facilities in rooms, and secondly, that there can be a tendency for water spilling onto the floors in bathrooms. Furthermore, a few guests found their rooms to be a little hot, and a handful of others were disappointed to find they had inward-facing rooms.
