Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly staff
The majority of previous guests have found the staff is friendly and helpful. There are a few instances of guests reporting that the front desk team was a little short with them but, on the whole, there appear to be few disappointments with the standard of service.
positive:
Decent breakfast
Guests have typically enjoyed the breakfast. It's not particularly lavish but there's a decent enough choice and there's enough food on offer to keep you going until lunchtime. Plus, guests often note that the serving area is found to be clean and tidy.
positive:
Low cost hotel
For many guests, the overriding positive feature of this hotel is the cost of the rooms. There are some problems at this property but the rates appear reasonable. Plus, you'll enjoy additional savings thanks to freebies such as parking and breakfast.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms may disappoint
Although some of the rooms appear to be newer than other, guests are often disappointed by the quality of the accommodation. Reported issues include dirty windows and carpets, broken heaters, poorly performing Wi-Fi, and ants.
negative:
Location won't suit everyone
There are plus points to this location. For many guests, its proximity to the University of Illinois proved appealing. Other guests felt the hotel was too far off the beaten tracks. Having a car is pretty much essential during your stay as beyond a few restaurants, there is little to do in the immediate area.
negative:
Problems with smoke alarms
More than one guest report that there are issues with the smoke alarms in the rooms. One guest found theirs on the desk. Another reports that a plastic bag had been placed around the alarm. Given that the room stunk of smoke, it's likely a previous guest did it but it seems odd that the housekeeping staff didn't deal with it.
