Rooms are freshly decorated and generally, the standards of cleanliness are high. Outside, the place is somewhat depressing and could do with a facelift. Don't get too 'down' though as it's a very different story inside.

La Mesa is only a minute or so away and downtown San Diego, around 15 minutes by car. There are, though, many places of interest to visit and all are within striking distance. Another bonus is the local shops and restaurants. Many are only a short walk from the motel. There's certainly no need for the car. Plus, it's a good stopping off motel if arriving at or departing from San Diego International Airport; 20 minutes away by car.

Rooms are a bit on the cramped side, air conditioning is noisy - so sleep is difficult - and there's something of a problem at Harvey's with the lack of sound insulation.

Some guests just hate the smell of stale cigarettes or, even worse; they have asthmatic problems which mean that they can't tolerate the atmosphere. In these 'non-smoking' rooms, there is a strong smell of smoking. It seems that the interests of non-smokers have been sidelined.

The parking lot is very small so, to compensate, they've adopted the same policy with the designated spaces themselves. This makes parking difficult and extracting yourself from the vehicle can be an embarrassing sight.
