Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent central location and view
Guests seemed to have quite a few issues with the Riviera, but the view from the terrace and some of the rooms definitely wasn't one of them. Many guests seem to have arrived o the ferry from Venice, and they were very pleased to be staying at a grand hotel virtually across he road from the terminal.
positive:
Very grand exterior
While guests were not so complimentary about the interior, they acknowledged that the exterior was very grand indeed. The hotel dates back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and guests did get a bit of a sense of its history and grandeur.
positive:
Pretty clean
While guests as a whole were not satisfied with the décor and furnishings, they conceded that the cleaning staff were doing an excellent job by keeping both the rooms and public areas of the hotel clean at all times.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Grandeur is a bit too faded
The most common negative sentiment was that, while the hotel was no doubt once grand, the interior was now very faded. The fabrics were described as worn, and the whole place just seemed to need a major refurbishment.
negative:
Nearby nightclub goes on till dawn
Quite a number of guests mention that a nightclub just across the street went on nearly till dawn, and the thumping music could easily be heard in many of the rooms, so disturbing their sleep.
negative:
No air conditioning
Continuing the theme of the hotel being “old” guests also stated that none of the rooms had air conditioning, and to add insult to injury in many cases the fans in their room didn't work. As a result many travelling in summer were hot, and quite bothered about it.
