About Les Pensées d'Or

Accomodation Les Pensées d'Or is a so called "chambre d'hôtes". This means that you are a guest in our home. We offer our guests a spacious suite. The attractive, authentically renovated "grange" is divided over two floors. You live and sleep under the original oak roof beams. The outside walls are traditionally insolated with lime and hemp, the interior walls consist of "pierre apparente" (traditional Burgundy wall work). The grange is tastefully decorated and looks out over rolling green hills, is equipped with all luxury and comfort. Via the staircase you reach the suite on the first floor: bedroom with sitting area + dressing room with washstand + separate toilet (38 m 2) • 1 double bed or 2 separate single beds (new mattresses) • comfortable sofa • Nespresso coffee machine, teakettle, coffee capsules, tea, fruit, mineral water • wireless internet (Wi-Fi) HD TV with satellite (e.g. UK channels) plus network access (for music) • B&O radio CD player to play your own CD’s DVD • blueRay player can be made available on request • Luxurious bedclothes, towels, extra pillows and blankets • Hairdryer, bathrobes. By the way ... • You will get a carport on our private grounds at your disposal (owner’s risk). • In our home library you will find DVDs and books on nutrition, art, design, architecture, photography and Eastern philosophy. • Please accept our hospitality to use also our private meditation room for your daily practice. • Weather permitting; you can play “jeu de boules” in our courtyard: the original “petanque balls” are waiting for you. • In case of rainy weather we can offer you games, puzzles and rain boots. • Would you take a trip and are not sure where to go? In your room you will find a basket full of tourist information and we are happy to help you with suggestions. • The accommodation is not suitable for children and people with walking difficulties. • Pets (we already have a cat) are not allowed. Also, it is not allowed to smoke indoors. • Guests can make use of washing machine and tumble dryer. Offer: 7th night is for free!!!! Region: Charolais-Brionnais On as little as a five-hour drive from the French northern border, in the South of Burgundy, is the Charolais-Brionnais-region. It's a lovely peaceful zone with rolling hills and water, surrounded by the Loire and intersected with channels landscaped by human hand. It is not only a unique and exceptionally beautiful scenery, but also an important territory of numerous plant and animal species. The Charolais-Brionnais region is composed of 85% pastureland, meticulously delineated by hedgerows and dense tree patches like you’ll find nowhere else. This is the unique rural landscape of Charolais-Brionnais country, preserved thanks to the farming community, responsible in very large part for the preservation of this magnificent territory! The Charolais-Brionnais-region is the cradle of the "charolais" beef and sheep breed, that is recognized and appreciated throughout the world. This region is unique for its impressive concentration of Romanesque churches and chapels. Some charming while others splendorous, over one hundred edifices showcase the intense religious fervor and artistic and architectural flourish during the Middle Ages. The Paray-le-Monial Basilica, a period masterpiece miraculously still standing today, illustrates the phenomenal technique and skill on display in Cluny-style Romanesque art. The history of this territory is also unveiled through its museums, craftsmen’s workshops and castles. Nearly 100 classic chateaux, tamed fortresses and genteel manor homes scattered across the landscape! These treasures have earned the Charolais-Brionnais the label as a “Land of Artistic and Historical Distinction”, awarded by France’s Culture Ministry in 2007. The region has also applied for nomination on the World Heritage list of Unesco. Friends of nature, history lovers, hikers and bon vivants are here at the right place for exceptional historical heritage, for the most tempting local produce and for the most beautiful hiking trails. For me, the Charolais landscape exudes first and foremost the softness and poetry found in the local colors that always amaze regardless of the season. An incomparable pace and quality of life is infused here, in sync with local cattle breeding and culinary delicacies as well as with the Romanesque architecture in full display.
