Gite La Tourelle du Cap is a delightfully quaint Swiss cottage style property set in gorgeous surroundings overlooking the St. Lawrence offering charming country style accommodation. The four rooms are furnished and decorated in a country cottage style and feature delightful touches like claw foot baths and cosy fireplaces. One has a private patio with lovely garden views. Winter visitors will be treated to heating from the building’s authentic wood stove, dating from the early 1900’s. There is a cosy lounge were guests can socialise or perhaps curl up with a good book. A very comprehensive home cooked breakfast is served every morning, with every attempt made to use local ingredients. The hosts can offer local dining recommendations for the other two meals if required. The main attraction is perhaps the property itself, but guests wanting to explore the town of La Malbaie will find it five miles from La Tourelle du Cap. The Charlevoix Casino is eight miles away.
This was by far what guests most appreciated during their stay. Guests described a breakfast that was extensive, incredibly tasty and well prepared. Some said it was one of the most outstanding breakfasts that they had ever had the pleasure to enjoy anywhere.
Aside from the breakfast, it was the hosts, Andre and Annick that most impressed guests during their stay. They were described as terrifically friendly and always willing to help their guests out with top quality advice and recommendations. Many also commented that they were accomplished musicians and often treated guests to impromptu recitals.
Guests were very impressed with the decor and general atmosphere at the B&B. The décor has a country cottage feel to it, which guests described as adorable. They clearly liked that the décor was traditional, rather than hip and modern - a design ethos they could easily enjoy back in the city.
A number of guests felt that the hotel was situated in a bit of a remote area. While on the main road, it as some distance from La Malbaie, so those who were looking for a bit more of a “town” atmosphere were a little disappointed they had quite far to travel.
The B&B is on the main road into La Malbaie from the north, and a number of guests mentioned that they could hear the sound of cars speeding by from the property, including from their rooms. To some, this detracted from the otherwise tranquil surrounds.
