Ambrose Hotel (Santa Monica, USA)

The organic continental breakfast gets a lot of compliments. It is plentiful and has a good variety of foods with healthy options. The only problems guests have run into is limited seating in the breakfast area. All rooms also feature Starbuck's Fair Trade Organic coffee.

This eco-friendly boutique hotel is LEED certified. The Ambrose makes a lot of effort to minimize their carbon footprint and encourages guests to do the same. Only organic and locally grown foods are served on premises. There are recycling bins in every room. Rent one of the complimentary bikes and ride to the beach instead of driving. If you have a longer road trip, Hybrid car rental is also available onsite. In addition, if you're arriving by a hybrid car, you'll receive preferred parking onsite.

Aside from the complimentary breakfast, the hotel has lots of free amenities. Guests appreciated the local area shuttle and not having to worry about finding parking in Santa Monica. If you'd like to get some exercise on your way to the beach, bike rentals are always complimentary. Wi-Fi is also free on the entire property. Looking for a night in? On select days, the hotel hosts evening activities, like yoga.

Even though the hotel is only two miles (approximately 20 blocks) from the beach, guests thought it was too far to comfortably go to and from every day and not the most interesting route to walk. If you don't want the hassle of driving, the hotel's complimentary shuttle will take you within three miles of the hotel.

While most guests have had no problems, several did complain about a lack of hot water. The shower had to run for several minutes to warm up properly, not a very eco-friendly habit.

The complimentary Wi-Fi can have a poor signal in some rooms. Guests also said the internet speed was too slow for surfing the internet comfortably.
